BUILDING OPPORTUNITIES
Capacity Building becomes one of DevCafe’s main programs to enhance skills and knowledge for organizations and communities to adapt and thrive in a fast-changing world. An essential ingredient in capacity-building is transformation that is generated and sustained over time from within; transformation of this kind goes beyond performing tasks to changing mindsets and attitudes. Currently, we have two capacity building programs, English Study Circle in Indonesia and Scholarship program in India.
English Study Circle
English proficiency has become a valuable asset and fundamental skill in today’s interconnected world. Strong English skills enable individuals to communicate effectively, seize opportunities, and benefit from improved communication, access to information, career advancement, problem-solving, and collaboration. To achieve these outcomes, the goal of the English Study Circle program is to provide immersion experiences that allow participants to actively participate in the process of learning English and develop fundamental skills to enhance their career aspirations and goals.

Our Featured Projects
2018 - Innovations in Evaluation Workshop Series 2
DevCAFE rhosted a workshop as part of the “Innovations in Evaluation Workshop Series” titled “Big Data, Blockchain, and Human-Centered Design for Adaptive Programming.” This workshop was mostly about finding out how these new technologies and methods can be used to help adaptive programming and make development projects more effective. Those who attended the workshop learned the basics of big data, blockchain technology, and human-centered design. They also heard about real-world examples of how these tools have been used in development projects and how they can be applied to support adaptive programming. Participants had the chance to do hands-on activities and work with others to find out how these methods can be used to solve difficult development problems. The workshop was made for people who work in development, evaluators, and anyone else who wants to learn about new ways to do adaptive programming. Attendees left with a better understanding of how big data, blockchain, and human-centered design can be used to support development projects and practical tools and techniques to apply these approaches in their own work.
2018 - Monitoring and Evaluation Training for Agronomists and Coffee Farmers in the North Sumatra Region
Development Cafe is collaborating with PT. Indo Cafco and UTZ, along with GIZ, a German government-sponsored organization, to implement the TOBA project. This project aims to provide monitoring and evaluation training for agronomists and coffee farmers in the North Sumatra region of Indonesia. As part of this initiative, Development Cafe is providing monitoring and evaluation consultants to support the project’s implementation. The consultants will work closely with local stakeholders to design and implement a monitoring and evaluation framework that will help to assess the impact of the project on farmers and their communities. The training provided through this project will focus on building the capacity of agronomists and coffee farmers in the region to collect and analyze data, and use this information to make informed decisions about their farming practices. By strengthening the monitoring and evaluation skills of local stakeholders, the project aims to support the sustainable development of the coffee sector in North Sumatra. This collaboration represents an important opportunity for Development Cafe to contribute to the development of sustainable agriculture practices in Indonesia, and to promote the use of monitoring and evaluation as a tool for driving positive change in communities across the region.
