Our work is collaborative in nature and involves Research for Development, Capacity Development and use of technology to empower other NGOs, local governments and beneficiaries to enhance their skillsets.

Current Projects

Go Desa Mobile App Project

The Development CAFE is developing Go Desa, a mobile app, in collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Villages, Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration and the World Bank. The app can be used as an M&E tool, where government field workers located in different Indonesian villages can submit digital reports regarding their day-to-day work. This allows for efficient monitoring and evaluation of progress, and data collection across the country. The app is soon to be finalized after some pilot tests in the field.

TOBA Coffee Project

In partnership with GIZ, The Development CAFE aims to increase the resilience of coffee farmers in North Sumatra, Indonesia in response to climate change, by introducing new technologies, the UTZ coffee behavior code, and the diversification of income flow. A baseline study was conducted, where such training was provided to farmers in several parts of the region. The project is almost completed, with the fascinating findings currently being summarized.

Pepper Bangka Project

In collaboration with GIZ, The Development CAFE also aims to increase the economic and technical competence of white pepper farmers in Bangka, Sumatra by providing skills training to ensure that their harvest is of international food safety standard and adaptable to international market demand. The project is ongoing and is currently in preparation phase, where for example, our enumerators are still receiving training before collecting field data.

ISED Project

The Development CAFE, in collaboration with Indonesian Ministry of National Development Planning and GIZ, aims to strengthen the capacity of both public and private sectors in promoting inclusive and sustainable employment as part of “Innovation and Investment for Inclusive Sustainable Economic Development” (ISED). Conducting a baseline study, the project focuses on the manufacturing (food and beverages) and tourism sectors in Jakarta, Central Java, East Java, and West Nusa Tenggara. The project is currently ongoing.

Indonesia Country Program

Indonesia country program was founded on April 2017 specifically meet the growing needs of South East Asian region, particularly in the field of Research, Education and Technical support for local community organizations and to improve rural livelihoods. Our main office in Indonesia is located in the historical town of Klungkung Bali with satellite offices in Ubud, Bali and Jakarta. Our initiatives in South East Asia are:

Drones 4 Development (Drones4D)

A Training and Consultancy service using drones for precision farming, mapping, town planning and conservation.

Empowerment through Art

A prisoners’ art exhibition project, aimed at empowerment of prison inmates through hosting of exhibitions, workshops on art and painting.

HIV/AIDS Awareness

In partnership with local NGOs, provide HIV/AIDS awareness, trainings, and referral services.

Anti Drug Use Campaign

In partnership with Local NGOs and networks, promote awareness on effects of drug use, empowerment workshops for ex drug users and employability training.

Skill development project

Provide training for local youth on skill development, on etiquette, English language, Communication Skills, Social Media training, Employability training and need based vocational training.

Cultural integration

Work with tourism ministry and community based organizations to promote local culture, preserve ancient monuments and natural wonders.

Bodhi Soul

Retreat program for Development professionals around the world that involves, elements of Yoga, Management training and life skills coaching to have a work life balance and transformative experience.

Kota Tua Project
